This project will provide funds that will acquire approximately 31.96 acres of wetlands, immediately south of Horseshoe Lake at the intersection of Illinois Route 111 and Interstate 70. The area is important as a stormwater buffer, and is also home to a variety of wildlife. Southwestern Illinois RC&D, Inc. will follow the C2000 "Procedure for Fee Simple Land Acquisitions". An approved perpetual Conservation Easement will be gifted to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources upon acquisition of the property to preserve, enhance, restore, and maintain the natural resources of the acquired property. IDNR personnel will perform annual monitoring inspection on the encumbered parcel.

Funding provided by IDNR.
