“Kaskaskia Watershed Association Directors Meeting”
4 On December 2nd, 2009 Dr. Karl Williard presented study findings from a current research project being conducted in the Lower Kaskaskia River watershed. Data were gathered by an interdisciplinary team of researchers and include both water quality and community health findings. The future of the study will focus on the development and implementation of outreach strategies to address the identified watershed and community health concerns. “Madison County Stormwater Master Plan”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development has been selected as one of four entities that will be working towards the development of the first phase of a Madison County Master Stormwater Management Plan.  The RC&D will be assisting in mapping community stormwater infrastructure, developing maps for the project and developing narrative components related to managing stormwater through natural systems.
“Kaskaskia Basin Water Supply Plan”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development will serve as the regional lead, assisting a diverse committee of special interests in the completion of a comprehensive water supply plan for the Kaskaskia basin.  Covering all, or portions of, 22 counties the plan will consider demand uses (prepared by SIU Carbondale) and supply forecasts (prepared by the Illinois State Water Survey).  The committee will develop a series of conclusions and recommendations based on this information, to ensure an adequate supply of water through 2050.  Hoelscher Engineering and SCI Engineering will be assisting in this initiative.  Work on this project will be completed over the next two years.
“Arlington Wetland Section 319 Project”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development will work with Madison County and the Collinsville Area Recreation District to implement habitat restoration and an educational program at the Arlington Wetland site.  Ecosystem restoration, a boardwalk and trail, interpretive signs, parking facility and educational materials will be included in the project, which will be completed over the next two years.
“Trailnet Ride Mapping Support”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development will provide mapping services for Trailnet's Bicycle Fun Club 2010 rides (30 rides).
“Volunteer/State Fire Assistance Program”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development has been awarded a contract from the US Forest Service to inventory and inspect Federal Excess Personal Property within rural fire districts and State of Illinois facilities within the State of Illinois. FEPP equipment is directed to states for the purpose of wildland and rural firefighting. Work on this project will be undertaken with the assistance of the Illinois Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts.
“Illinois Cooperative Forest Health Program”
4 Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development has been awarded a contract from the US Forest Service to provide forest health technical assistance within the State of Illinois. Through this project, staff and contractors will identify and evaluate damage cause by select insects and diseases, as well as develop educational materials and provide training to state foresters on pending forest health issues. These activities will be undertaken in conjunction with staff from Morton Arboretum.
