“Scott Air Force Base Community Impact Study"
The RC&D partnered to produce an impact study of Scott Air Force Base. The role of the RC&D was to gather, organize, and geospatially display data that illustrates the multiple impacts Scott Air Force Base has on communities in our region. Employment and expenditures related to operations at Scott Air Force Base affects communities’ economies, schools, housing and other factors. The maps produced by the RC&D will clearly show how these impacts are distributed (by zip code).

“The National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils Announces Award to Southwestern Illinois RC&D Council"
Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development (SWIRCD) was granted membership in the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils Circle of Diamonds program, becoming just the third RC&D Council out of 375 to qualify for this elite status from the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils.
The Circle of Diamonds program highlights the invaluable work that RC&D Councils perform in their communities and recognizes the good stewardship practices that Councils have put in place. The program is a proactive means for RC&D Councils to demonstrate that they are complying with the basic requirements of the RC&D statute and best non-profit management practices. The program has three tiers or levels: Basic, Enhanced, and Premier. More than anything, membership in NARC&DC s Circle of Diamonds demonstrates honesty, integrity, and strong commitment of RC&D Councils to the RC&D mission of "Making Things Happen"
By earning Tier III membership, SWIRCD has clearly demonstrated its ability to adhere to the highest standards of governance and administration and its effectiveness in public outreach and partnership management. The Council s policies and practices, as well as its inspiring vision for the future of its community, make it a model for all of us who strive to faithfully serve our communities and be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.

December 2011
This time of the year we are reminded of the many blessings in our life and how grateful we are. Instead of exchanging gifts this year, the staff decided to give back locally and support a food pantry. We partnered with the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and donated to the food collection efforts of the Young Farmers Committee. All of the food collected was donated to the UCC Food Pantry in Freeburg, IL and will go to help local families in need.
With the continued hardships that many families are facing through this difficult economy, more people than ever are turning to local food pantries for help and assistance. Our local food pantries are in need of your donation, whether it be time, money, or food. They are always looking for non-perishable food items or volunteers at the pantry. For more information about donating or finding a local food pantry in your area, you can contact our office for assistance at 618-566-4451 Ex. 22
