Through the utilization of a volunteer program, the Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development is able to better protect and promote the vast natural resources within the region, leading to an improved quality of life for the residents and visitors of the region. SERVE (Stewardship of Environmental Resources through Volunteer Efforts), the volunteer program of the Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development utilizes volunteer staff to provide technical assistance, outreach, and administrative support in a manner which strengthens the capacity and effectiveness of the overall organization.

Volunteers within the organization have the opportunity to pass along technical expertise, learn new skills, meet new people and attend events and learn a tremendous amount about the environmental resources of southwestern Illinois.
